Third & Fourth Class Orienteering.
On Friday June 12th pupils from third and fourth class took part in an orienteering exercise organised by Andrew Cox of Orienteering Ireland.
Andrew set up an orienteering course in the school grounds. Pupils were organised into teams of two and they had to use their mappping skills to pass each flag in the correct order.
An electronic record was taken at each flag using a finger dongle and there was great excitement at the finish line as the time taken by each team to complete the course was recorded via computer.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were buzzing around the school with great enthusiasm seeking out the each flag. It was also a wonderful opportunity for the girls to pick up some map reading advice from an expert and to use specialised orienteering equipment.
