On Thursday, 6th November, the girls from fifth class took a trip to Cork to take part in a concert led by the Cork Pops Orchestra.
The theme of the concert was "Blockbuster Classics: Music from the Movies". The girls thoroughly enjoyed learning the songs "When You Wish Upon a Star", "Edelweiss", "Smile", "Happy and "Let it Go". They also put a lot of work into perfecting their tin whistle tunes "Edelweiss" and "My Heart will Go On", which paid off, as they were as good as any member of the orchestra on the day!
The girls also had the opportunity to listen to the orchestra perform well known tunes such as the theme tunes from "Star Wars", "The Lord of the Rings", "Harry Potter" and " Pirates of teh Carribean".
The Cork Pops Orchestra put on a fantastic show, which included a bass-playing gorilla and a surprise performanace from The Voice of Ireland's Keith Hanley.
The girls covered different aspects of the music curriculum on the day and had a fantastic time doing so!
