School Work for Miss Ryan's 5th :) (1st - 5th June)

29th May 2020

Hi girls,

I hope you’ve all had a great week enjoying the lovely warm weather!

As I mentioned last week, we’ll be focusing on different themes for the month of June. This week is Wellness Week so have a look at your work below to see all the activities you can choose from.

If you haven’t received your work pack in the post yet you should receive it early this week. Keep the pack safe and please only do the activities when I instruct you to do so here. This week you’ll be completing the ‘We’re All in this Together’ mindfulness colouring, your jigsaw piece and your ‘Achievement Shield’ worksheet. Some of the activities you complete will need to be returned to us in the brown envelope included in your work pack so please put lots of effort into your worksheets and look after them.

We'd like you to decorate your jigsaw piece in the theme of 'We're All in this Together.' Write your name and class on your piece and decorate it nicely. They will be collected and displayed in the school as a reminder of this time.

Ms Cronin has organised a virtual bun sale for this Friday. As you would have been hosting your own bun sale this year, 4th, 5th and 6th have been asked to go all out and treat it as you would a normal bun sale! Draw your poster, decorate your stand and most importantly bake some tasty treats for you and your family to enjoy. Make sure to email your creations to ecronincashelgirls@gmail.com as everyone that sends a picture will be entered into a draw and the most imaginative creation will win a prize!

I hope that you’re all enjoying Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The next two chapters ‘The Sorting Hat’ and ‘The Potions Master’ are available to watch now. If you were enjoying the writing activities, make sure to check out the ‘Chapter Challenges’ under each video.

JK Rowling is also releasing a new book called ‘The Ickabog’ online and some of you might like to read that too. She is also running an art competition for the chance to have your drawing included in the book when it’s published in November. You’ll find all the information here.

For those of you who aren’t finished your Spellbound and Maths Challenge, you can continue to work your way through them if you want to.

Please continue to keep in touch with me by email. I love seeing all your photos and all the hard work you’ve been doing. My email is amyryancashelgirls@gmail.com

I hope you all have a lovely, relaxing and enjoyable Wellness Week! :)

Take care,

Ms Ryan.

Wellness Week 2020

I know Monday is a Bank Holiday but we can still take part in Mindful Monday! All the activities are very enjoyable and relaxing. Treat this as a menu and pick and choose the activities you’d like to do throughout the week.

Mindful Monday

  • Screen free evening.
  • Read a book/ do some art/paint a sunset.
  • Get 10+ hours sleep.
  • Meditate.
  • DEAC 'We're All in this Together' worksheet. (Drop Everything And Colour)
  • Do 5 Random Acts of Kindness throughout the day.
  • Pick a “secret”  family member and leave them notes with compliments on it, take their dishes to the dishwasher, let them watch what they want on TV, dress their bed, pamper them for the day. Do whatever you can to make them feel special.

Thankful Tuesday

  • Make a gratitude jar and decorate it. Fill it with things you are thankful for.
  • Create an acrostic poem for GRATITUDE.
  • Write a thankful letter to a friend/family member.
  • End the day by getting everyone in the house to list 3 things you are all grateful for.
  • Walk in my Shoes - It is often difficult to understand what another person is going through or how they feel when they are going through difficult or challenging times. So design/decorate a pair of old runners/flip flops in any way you want. Or simply make a pair of shoes from cardboard and decorate them.

Wellness Wednesday

  • Make a positive emotion potion picture - list positive emotions and draw them in a bottle, assign different colours to different emotions.

It is not possible to have positive emotions all the time , but we know that having plenty of positive emotion every day can help our wellbeing. Scientific research shows that we should have three positive emotions to balance one negative emotion. Here are some positive emotions (Pride, Interest, Belonging, Excitement, Amusement, Awe, Zest, Peace, Love and Gratitude).  What might give rise to these emotion for you? List some of these in your emotion potion.

  • Weaving wellbeing Rap on Vimeo.

  • Ask someone what your character strengths are? Find ways to use these strengths to help others.
  • Draw a picture showing your strengths.
  • Have a “Rainbow Moment” - List 3 good things that happened yesterday. These moments relate to the little parts of our day where things go well for us, such as enjoying playing with a friend or noticing something beautiful in nature. Our brains naturally look for bad things in our day and with Rainbow Moments, we are re-training our brains to notice and pay attention to the small, simple, positive things that occur on a daily basis.
  • Make a “selfie” . See the link below.

  • Print out this wellbeing calendar and do one of the activities each day.

Triumphant Thursday

  • Celebrate all the things you’ve ever achieved. Use the Achievement Shield to illustrate all the awards/certs/trophies you ever got. The achievement shield came in your work pack that I posted out to you.
  • Write your aspirations for the future.

Feel Good Friday

  • Virtual Bun Sale Day - create a nice baking treat.
  • Eat more healthy foods today.
  • Make someone feel good today.
  • Have a “Family Fitness” night.
  • Take a nature walk.
