Room 7: Miss Quirke's 3rd and 4th class 5th - 8th May
Hi girls,
I hope you and your families are all well. I have a few guidelines for this week, the 5th – 8th of May. Don’t forget to take Monday off for the May Bank Holiday!
Thank you for your emails last week. It was great to hear how you’re getting on and I was glad to be able to help with questions when needed. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any queries about the work I have given, or would like to show your work.
My school email address: squirkecashelgirls@gmail.com
Take care,
Miss Quirke π
Maths: Planet Maths 3 & 4: pp. 95 – 99. This is the ‘chance’ chapter. You will get to decide whether or not different things might happen or not, e.g.
‘I am certain that it will rain today’
‘It is possible that I will read a book later’
‘It is impossible to roll a 7 on a dice labelled 1-6’
I have added a photo to this post with some extra chance vocabulary.
You can try some chance experiments yourself, using a dice, or even creating your own spinners, and seeing what the outcomes are!
English: Word Wizard, 3rd class: pp. 68 & 69 (Dearest Red), 4th class: pp. 74 & 75 (The Life Cycle of a Butterfly). Both pages contain a text and some questions based on the story for you to try. If you come across any new words, such as the words in bold, you can use your dictionary like you do in class.
Writing prompts based on these texts:
3rd class: write a letter to someone apologizing for something you did (real or imaginary). Try your best to convince or persuade them that you are really sorry.
4th class: write about the stages of growth in an animal of your choice. You can also research extra information to add more details to your writing.
Irish:
Revise chapter 19. Saorscribhneoireacht (free writing): write a story/comic about the weather and/or the seasons.
SESE:
I have included the World War II links from last week again:
https://www.natgeokids.com/ie/discover/history/general-history/world-war-two/
https://www.ducksters.com/history/world_war_ii/ww2_timeline.php

If you are just beginning World War II, you could make a KWL chart in your copy to keep track of what you have learned.
As an extra activity, have a look around your home for different types of technology, such as phones, kettles, etc. Write about how different items like these can help us in our lives.

Art: I have included a 30 day drawing challenge at the bottom of this piece if you are interested.
