Room 7: Miss Quirke's 3rd and 4th class 27th April - 1st May

24th Apr 2020

Hi girls,

It was so lovely to talk to you and your families this week. I am really happy to hear that you are all keeping safe and well. I loved hearing about all the creative activities you are doing at home, you have all been very busy! I have a few more activity guidelines for you all. Complete what you can, little amounts at a time.

Take care,

Miss Quirke :)

School email: my school email address is squirkecashelgirls@gmail.com

English:

English spellings: Unit 27, LCWC, workbook activities and create sentences for 10 of these words.

Novel: read chapters 16-18 of The Worst Witch. Questions are in the Novel document below.

Writing: I would like you to attempt one or both of these writing challenges this week:

  1.  Write a story using these 5 words: hero, train, fantastic, orange, summer
  2. Write about your favourite activity (a sport, painting, swimming, etc.) and explain why you like it so much.

I am delighted to hear that many of you are reading extra books at home. Keep it up! I am reading lots of books at the moment too :)

Maths:

3rd class pp. 28, 29 (Maths in a Stadium) and p. 53 (Fright Night)

4th class pp. 28,29 (The Game Show) and pp. 52,53 (Pirate Graveyard)

These pages have a combination of different maths topics that we have covered so far. You will be problem solving. If you forget how to answer one of the sums, you can always look back through your book to remind yourself.

Remember rules for subtracting: More on top, don't stop. More on the floor, go next door and get ten more. If the numbers are the same, zero is your game.

Don't forget to revise your tables. You can play the clock game from school, all you need to do is draw a clock, you can include your family too! I have attached a times table challenge sheet as an extra resource, you can test yourself and see how many you can answer in a minute. You can also play the Top Marks games we played on the laptops, here are the links:

SESE:

If possible, continue working on the Netherlands project. I uploaded some questions about Anne Frank last week which you can finish this week if you haven’t already. I will add some links with facts about World War II for you to read if you are finished the work above.
