Room 12 - Global Citizenship Day!
The girls in room 12 studied Great Britain during November.
They researched famous British people such as the poet Robert Burns who wrote the song "Auld Lang Syne" and Queen Elizabeth 2nd the current British monarch. They also learned about important British landmarks such as Loch Ness and Stonehenge. The girls unearthed some fascinating facts about Great Britain for example that Buckingham palace has 775 room, that French was the national language in England in the 12th Century and that the national animal of Scotland is the unicorn.
One Friday 25th November, the girls shared some of some of what they had learned with pupils from other classes as part of Global Citizenship Day. Pupils from other classes took part in quiz on Great Britain, learned how to greet the queen, watched a short "Britain's Got Talent" drama featuring British inventors and listened to the Scottish traditional song "Donald Where's Your Tousers?".
It is amazing to see the many differences between Ireland and our nearest neighbor Great Britain.
