Room 11 Work for the next week.

29th Mar 2020

Dia daoibh go léir cailíní,

Tá súil agam go bhfuil sibh go maith. It's hard to believe that it's less than three weeks since we were in school!

There is so much going on in the world right now and I know that it is so hard to believe at times. What we have been asked to do is very, very difficult for all of us and I know that you are all desperately missing your friends in school (we all are)!!!

Just like the girl throwing the starfish into the sea, each and every one of you is making a big difference! One day you will be able to look back on these difficult times and be very proud of yourselves - by staying at home each and every one of you is saving lives and helping to protect your family, your friends and your community! It may not seem like that sometimes when you listen to the news but remember that the situation would be so much worse if the schools hadn't closed and if life had stayed the same.

While we are off school it's really important for us all to keep or brains and our bodies sharp - so that we can hit the ground running when we get back! I am setting some work which I would like you to do next week. I feel that you should be able to do this work on your own and if you are stuck just try your best!

There are also lots of links to videos and activities on the "Suggestions for 5th & 6th class" page that I think you will enjoy and if you go to the "Parent Info" section of the website there are lots of websites for you to explore. RTE will be airing a "School" programme from Monday at 11.00 - I don't know how good it will be but do take a look.

While you are at home you have lots of time to try out a new hobby, dust off the board games or learn a new skill; you could learn to do something to help out at home - I'm sure your parents would appreciate it!!!

Remember that this is tough for your parents and other family members too, cut them some slack! I know that you will be your wonderful, cheerful selves and help to make this a good experience for everyone.

If you are feeling anxious try to think about "what could go right", talk to someone about your worries, do something to take your mind off everything or watch one of the relaxation videos on the "Suggestions for 5th & 6th class" page.

Do stay in touch with each other while keeping apart physically and stay in touch with us here in school too - we really love seeing what you are doing at home!!!

Above all - stay positive!!! Remember that this isn't going to be forever; life will go back to normal, none of us know when that will be, but every day we are another day closeR to it! Befoe we know it we will all be able to enjoy all the little things we are missing right now. I am really looking forward to all the birthday parties, days out and trips to the cinema etc. that I will have to catch on. Imagine the amazing summer we will have!!!

Beimid ar ais sa seomra ranga aris go luath!

Go dti sin bigi sabháilte!

Mrs. Kealy
