Room 10 School assignments for May 11th - 15th 2020
Assignments for Monday 11th May- 15th 2020.
Hi girls,
I hope you and your families are well, safe and in good form as we move into May. Can you believe we are in May already!! Thank God for the good weather is all I can say. The sunshine makes this situation a little easier.
I was delighted to receive emails from you showing me your work last week. Keep up the fantastic work you are doing. I’m very proud of the work and the quality of it that is being completed from home. Like you I am finding it challenging to work from home but these are the times we find ourselves in and as such we must continue with our work so we are ready when the country re-opens and we get back to education.
For those of you that I haven’t heard from please feel free to email me and just let me know how you are finding the work I set.
Thanks again for your co-operation and support during this period. Keep safe.
Kind Regards,
Aileen Flanagan.

Science. I’m continuing with this topic on BEES . There is a lot of work in it and it’s a topic worth giving time to, particularly seeing how important bees are to our environment and food production. Without bees the world as we know it would look a lot different. If you are finished the project that is perfect. If not continue to research it this week. · The Buzz on bees. Research the topic of bees under these headings and present it on white pages as if it were a project. -What is a bee? -Life in the hive. -Laying eggs. -The larvae; growing and eating. -How a new bee appears. -How bees live. -What happens when a hive becomes too small. You blow up a balloon. Use strips of newspaper ( about 8cm long) covered in PVA glue and layer it over the balloon. Two or three layers may need to be done to strengthen the hive. Leave it to dry somewhere warm until hard. Once it is really hard and will not collapse. you can pop the balloon inside. The hive then needs to be painted and decorated as you like. A challenge for 5th and 6th class. Having spoken to Mrs. Kealy (Room 11) and Miss Ryan ( Room 12), this week we are putting a challenge out there for everyone in 5th and 6th to take part in. We want to see what you are doing when you are out and about on walks and cycles etc. So get out your camera and take a picture of yourself or those you are in lockdown with somewhere outside in nature. I took one of my son in a beautiful field of yellow flowers. When we look at that we will always remember that it was 2020 and the Covid 19 pandemic was in full swing. All photos to be emailed to your class teacher by the 22nd May. We hope to put them together in a collage/montage in the future. Have fun and be creative!!! |
