Supporting your child during the school closure.

16th Mar 2020

It has been a very stressful week as schools closed at very short notice.

We have sent home some books and schoolwork for pupils to complete at home. Children are encouraged to do as much as they can but not to get too anxious about it. They are naturally worried like everyone else and it is important for us all to remain calm at this time.

As a general guide pupils in infant classes should spend approximately 10 / 15 minutes on written / reading / sounds activities and
25 / 30 minutes for art / play based activities. Pupils in first and second class should spend approximately 20 - 30 minutes on an activity. Older pupils are generally able to work for longer periods.

I am attaching some information on sites you may find useful at this time and also some useful advice on planning your day. I would encourage you to explore the links to useful websites in the “Parent Info.” of this website.

Do ensure contact with others is minimal so that our School Community and the wider Community can emerge from this safely and quickly.

Do limit screen time and use the time out for good old fashioned activities like board games, cards, climbing trees, cooking, baking, reading a book, practicing camogie etc.

Above all stay safe every one!
