Class Reader Questions

The Man Who Wanted To Be A Pirate

Write as many facts as you can all about Ethiopia in  your copy.

Finish off any incomplete work today! Happy Weekend! 😊

She-Who-Is-Alone

  1. Where is this story set?
  2. What did the girl own that was very precious to her?
  3. Describe the doll.
  4. Why happened one summer when no rain fell?
  5. What did the girl do with her doll?
  6. What happened the next morning?
  7. What became the girl’s new name?

Do you know anything about Native American people? I wonder what the blue flower was.  I had a quick google and it seems the Bluebonnet flower is Texas’ official flower of Texas so perhaps that is the flower in the story!

------------------------------------------------------------------

We did a pirate theme during the year? Can you remember it? We all had pirate names, made Wanted posters, drew fantastic pirates, wrote pirate stories and read the poem ‘Ole Blackeye’ and remember we had our pirate visitor? Read P. 52-59 of your class reader and answer the following questions.

The Man Who Wanted To Be A Pirate

  1. How many people in the story wanted to become a pirate?
  2. Where did they build the ship?
  3. What supplies did they need to build a ship?
  4. What type of sandwiches did the man make?
  5. What type of shop did the woman buy hammers and nails in?
  6. Where did they go to launch their ship?

GEOGRAPHY

Let’s continue to learn about Ethiopia!

If you’re just starting, look back at last week’s web post for an interesting Powerpoint and some great videos on Ethiopia.  I hope you enjoy them.  Did you try and dance Ethiopian-style? Or listen to some music by Ted Afro?!

This week, we will read about a girl called Muluken who lives in Ethiopia and we will compare her life to ours.

Some of you went right ahead and wrote some lovely facts all about Ethiopia!  if you haven’t done so yet, try to write as many facts as you can on the country.

SCIENCE

Next weekend is World Turtle Day (23rd May).   Turtles face many threats, primarily from humans, including injuries from boat propellers, being caught in fishing nets, pollution, and poaching. Newly hatched sea turtles are also at risk of being hunted by animals such as birds and crabs as they move from their sandy nests out to the sea.  Here are some interesting links;
