Hi girls!
I hope you have had a good week.
Thank you for your emails during the week. I received such wonderful news, ideas, pictures and work samples. I miss seeing you all at school so it is so nice to see hear from you and see your pictures. I am so proud of the work that you are all doing.


This week coming our theme will be Nature. It is a good one for us this week because I know lots of you are spending lots of time outside in your gardens and going for lovely walks and cycles.

Writing: Nature Can you write a list of 10 things you can find in nature? Try your best to sound out each word! Draw a picture or maybe stick the item beside each!

Maths – Money- adding;
Put different coins (a few 1cs, 2cs, 5cs) in a hat. Close your eyes and pick out two coins. Can you add them? Write your adding sum. How many different sums can you make?

Maths – Maths; Colour by number;
Get a 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c and 20c coin and a white piece of paper. Use a pencil to draw around the coins. Colour/Paint; 1cs- green, 2cs red, 5cs purple, 10cs blue and 20cs-orange!

Other subject ideas for the week:
Religion- The month of May is dedicated each year to Our Lady. Practice your prayer Hail Mary each day. Draw a picture of Our Lady.
Gaeilge- Practice the conversation and sing the song “Cad atá sa chistin?”. The video will be linked with this post.
PE. – Practice skipping, jumping, hopping and running. Practice throwing and catching a ball with someone at home.

S.E.S.E -Nature:
Nature walk- Go on a nature walk close to your home. Take pictures of or collect interesting things that you see. Don’t forget to wear gloves and wash your hands after. Draw pictures of the things that you find.


Tree bark rubbings- Using paper and crayons, lean against the bark of a tree and colour in. If possible do bark rubbings of multiple trees and compare your results. Examine the interesting and different textures of each tree.


Stone and rock collection- If possible collect various types of pebbles and stones. Explore their different shapes and textures. Sort and classify your collection (big ones, small ones, rough ones, smooth ones etc)


Art-  Nature
Still life drawing- if possible pick some wild flowers (daisies/dandelions etc), arrange the flowers nicely perhaps in a little cup or glass. Draw or paint the flowers.


Flower petal picture- Pick petals of flowers if possible. (NB. Discuss how to, when and where you are allowed to pick flowers!) Using paper and glue, create a picture using the petals that you found.


Painting stones- Use some of the stones that you collected and paint them. You could paint a ladybird or a monster maybe.
