Information re. School Re-opening
St John the Baptist Girls School,
Cashel,
Co Tipperary
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope you and your children have been enjoying the nice weather we have had recently. As the return to school is almost upon us I would like to draw your attention to some important organizational issues.
School Times
• The school doors open at 9am when pupils will be able to enter the building. For the moment pupils will go directly to their classrooms where they will be supervised by staff members. Class begins at 9.20am. We hope to be able to resume morning assembly at some stage but for now we will avoid large numbers gathering in the school hall. • For drop off in the mornings we ask that you continue the arrangement in place over the last two years – 9.00 to 9.10 children with surnames a to l and the 9.10 to 9.22 children with surnames m to z. This worked very well and helped reduce congestion. • Infant classes will finish at 2pm and all other classes will finish at 3pm. Exit doors as follows:Bottom door (near car park) Rooms 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 12
Top door Rooms 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13
• Work has begun on the building project in the Boys School. As a consequence the temporary car park put in two years ago is no longer in existence. Unfortunately this means that unavoidably staff cars will once again be parked on the road. Therefore we anticipate that traffic will be a nightmare. We ask for your patience and suggest that you might consider walking to school if that is possible. Another alternative is to park at Tesco carpark or at the Green and then walk. Please do not park in the two disabled parking spaces.
Break/Lunch Times
Break 11.00am to 11.10am
Lunch 12.25pm to 1.00pm
Uniform
• Track suit days for Junior Infants, 1st class and 2nd class will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday • Tracksuit days for 3rd , 4th, 5th and 6th class will be Tuesday and Thursday • Navy shorts may be worn for the month of September
Book Rental
Many thanks to all who have paid the required fees. Unpaid fees can be paid at any time. The scheme is of course voluntary so if you do not intend to avail of the book rental scheme this year please contact the school office to inform the scheme co-ordinator so that she can have the correct amount of books organized for distribution on the first day back at school.
Schools Meal Scheme
As you are aware from my summer newsletter our school is now classified as DEIS Band 1. Access to the Schools Meals Programme is part of this scheme. This is a great facility for our school and I’m sure you and your children will be delighted with it this year. Following planning over the last few weeks we have engaged The Lunch Bag Catering Company as our provider. Under the scheme ALL pupils in our school (and in the Boys School) can now have a lunch provided free. We hope to have a launch of the scheme on 2ndSeptember and hopefully begin delivery by 5th September. Initially lunches will be cold – sandwiches, rolls, wraps etc. Access to hot meals will follow when the infrastructure and staff are in place. Please note that families can opt out if they wish.
So what does that mean for you?
• Send lunch and snacks as usual on 1st and 2nd September • Details will be sent out on the workings of the scheme along with menu choices on the day of the launch -2ndSeptember • You will continue to provide snacks and drinks for duration of the year
School Opening
School opens on Thursday 1st September
I look forward to welcoming all our pupils back for another year and I wish you and them a happy and successful year ahead.
Yours sincerely,
Mary Andrews
Principal
