Self-care
- Children will look to us for guidance on how to react and manage these changes in daily routines.
- So look after yourself, give yourself breaks and remember to be realistic with your expectations of others and yourself.
- Expect a mix of good and bad hours/days in this extraordinary situation.
- We have attached a simple tipsheet for general self-care and relaxation.
Free educational websites and apps
-

General
- Try to maintain daily routines - getting up at school time, regular bedtime etc. Refer to daily schedule visual for ideas on structuring the day.
- Set aside time for completing learning activities each day, at the same time if possible. Older children can help younger children with tasks, reading, and other activities.
- Give children regular breaks. Children do not sit and work continuously in school for long periods of time. The length of time a child can stay engaged in learning varies by age and by the individual child.
-
Include physical activity every day.
Please feel free to share this information with anyone you feel it could help.
Yours faithfully,
Psychologists from the Developmental & ASD Psychology Service
