History Fieldtrip to Hore Abbey.
Fifth class were learning about Irish monasteries this term. As part of their studies they went on a field trip to ruins of Hore Abbey, a local Abbey which was first built by the Benedictines in the early 13th Century.
Here the pupils saw first hand the impressive church with it's side aisles and tower and they were able to walk around the remains of the cloisters.
We are very fortunate to have a wealth of historical buildings in Cashel, which give us a great insight into life in the distant past.
The experience allowed the pupils to get a sense of what life might have been life in a monastery and to explore the many changes that have occurred to Hore Abbey down through the years.
Thank you to Jan who accompanied the class on the trip with Mrs. Kealy.
