Green School Assessment

16th Mar 2015

The Green School Committee had their assessment on March 11th, with Sharon Scully, an environmental officer from Clonmel.

She was very impressed with the work all the pupils in the school have undertaken to achieve the fifth Green Flag, for Biodiversity.

Sharon met first with the Green School Committee who talked about the various steps undertaken to increase Biodiversity in our school. They spoke confidently to her regarding our environmental audit around the school grounds, coming up with a green code, labelling the trees on the school grounds, installation of water butts, new composters, bird feeders a log pile and bug hotels as well as our days of action - The Biodiversity Photographic Competition & Éanna Ní Lamhna workshops. These are but a few of teh many things achieved with regard to increasing Biodiversity in the school.

The committee then took a walk around the school grounds to show off our handiwork and Sharon the ment with two classes (First Class and Senior Infants).
