Cork Pops Orchestra Concert

Pupils from Fifth class traveled to City Hall, in Cork City for the Cork Pops Orchestra Concert on Tuesday,  November 6th. 

Conductor, Evelyn Grant and the Cork Pops Orchestra entertained the pupils with a range of music from Carmen by Bizet and Bolero by Ravel to a version of the popular song "Shotgun" mixed by dance music producer DJ Dashka. 

The show entitled, "A World of Rhythm", explored sounds from the Percussion Section of the Orchestra; how ‘noise’ becomes ‘music’ when instruments that you can hit, bang, scrape, or shake are played in particular ways, making very specific rhythms, textures, and timbres.

The girls really enjoyed the interactive concert and it was a wonderful opportunity for them to see a live orchestra in the magnificent setting of City Hall, Cork.
