A letter from Mrs Andrew
19th April 2021
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Thank you all once again for your wonderful support and co-operation with our return to school after the Easter break. Everything has gone smoothly and the children are well settled back.
Please note the following information:
Stay Safe Programme – Class teachers are teaching the Stay Safe Programme this term. The Stay Safe Programme is a personal safety skills programme designed for use with primary school children. The programme seeks to enhance children’s self-protective skills to enable them to recognize and resist abuse/victimization and teaches them that they always tell a trusted adult about any situation which they find unsafe, upsetting, threatening, dangerous or abusive. Teachers will be sending home worksheets on the lessons taught so that you, the parents, can speak to the children on the topics taught in school.
RSE – Class teachers will also teach the Relationships and Sexuality Programme this term. This programme is part of the Social, Personal and Health Education Curriculum taught in all classes each year. A policy document is available to view on the school website. The content to be taught is available on request from class teachers.
Fifty/Fifty Draw – The draw will resume next week with the first draw on Friday 30th April followed by draws on May 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th and June 4th, 11th and a roll over draw on the 25th June which is the last day of term. Please continue to support our fund-raising.
Outdoor Teaching Areas – This year we aim to bring teaching and learning outside!! To that end we intend to develop 5 specific areas where children can gather as a class and learn in the bright sunshine and fresh air. The Parent Association is supporting this initiative and a GoFund Me page has been set up to raise funds to finance the venture. The plan is to purchase seating and outdoor blackboards. I have no doubt that the children will love the opportunity to be outside for lessons and of course in the current pandemic outside is best. Your support will be greatly appreciated and will benefit your children now and into the future. See the attached link to the gofundme page for details and to donate. Please share with friends and family. https://gofund.me/335d778d
Parent/Teacher Meetings – will take place this week as scheduled.
With best wishes to all for a happy and safe last term,
Yours sincerely,
Mary Andrews - Principal
