Room 7: 3rd & 4th Class Work 30th March - 4th April
Hello to all of my girls, and their families,
I hope you and all your loved ones are all keeping safe and well. Below are some guidelines of work to be completed between Monday the 30th of March and Friday the 4th of April. First and foremost, the girls' wellbeing is most important. I have included some links which will allow the girls to engage in mindfulness, exercises, yoga, etc. as well as core subject materials. Stay safe everyone, and look after one another.
Miss Quirke :)
English novel: The Worst Witch Saves the Day. Read chapters 8-11. Questions on ‘English’ document.
Spellings: Unit 25. LCWC and workbook activities.
Poetry: ‘No place like home’ poem (attached document). Answer questions from ‘English’ document. Plan and write an Easter poem using any of the styles explored (acrostic/limerick/verses, etc.)
Maths: 1 Maths Challenge test per day. Revise all multiplication and division tables.
After the Length chapter, we are progressing to Area. In the 3rd and 4th class book, this is pp. 138-142. The girls will be calculating the area of different shapes by counting the full and/or half boxes covered by the shape. They may also draw shapes in their maths copies, e.g. their hand, and find the area by counting the boxes. They can link area to real life by estimating and measuring, for example, how many copy books might cover a table.
4th class: looking at square metre and square centimetre: 1m/cm long and 1m/cm wide.
I have attached some revision sheets for the topics of weight, length and area as extra resources.
Gaeilge:
Revise ‘An Siopa Scoile’ (3rd) and ‘Litir o Aintin Orla’ (4th). The girls did a fantastic job with ‘Sky full of Stars’ as Gaeilge a few weeks ago, here is a new song for them to practice: Wake me up/Lig me saor (Avicci/Colaiste Lurgan)
